Finally, the Y2Kings are here. The dreaded December doldrums are behind.
What can we expect from them in the new Millennium?
In the past 11 years, the Kings have had only one winning December - the 89-90 season
(see below), where the Kings went 7-4-2. Since that time, they have averaged just
three wins in the month of December. It doesn't matter if the Kings are healthy or
if they are racked with injuries. They traditionally fare poorly in the month of
December, and generally are taken out of the race completely by the beginning of

So the Los Angeles Kings start another season in the not so frozen City of
Angels, and with the start of this new campaign comes renewed hope for
some playoff success. The Kings have a new building, a new coach, and a
new star player for fans to delight in. But the 1999-2000 schedule also
has someone very familiar under the spotlight with all of the new stuff,
and that someone is General Manager Dave Taylor...

A month into the season, and things were looking fabulous for the Kings.
Tops in the division in points and goals (switching on a daily basis with the
very hot San Jose Sharks). A power play unit that actually scored goals,
(thanks in no small part to the addition of Frantisek Kaberle on the point).
Then, in one fell swoop, the Kings lost two of their top skaters from the
first line; Luc Robitaille and Jozef Stumpel. They played their first game
